Brief Info
Canvas first came into existence in 2011 and was developed by Instructure software provider. It is a cloud-based learning platform, where learners can learn at any time and at their own pace. Facilitators also find this platform useful, in that they are able to organize their materials, set times and reminders using the “Calendar” and “Announcement” features, and also track the progress of their students, as well as assess how well their materials are being utilized on the platform. Additionally, users can easily share content and collaborate in a number of ways.

Teachers are able to see the progress of their pupils and students are able to receive immediate feedback on assignments as soon as the teacher grades them; a Canvas feature called Videri collects data from different sources within the platform to give administrators and teachers real-time information on students’ scores and other

Has language support for around 13 different languages; the official website has a few courses in Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese that allows users to learn how to navigate through the Canvas platform
Pros
Unlimited file size; both students and teachers are able to easily customize certain features individualized to them (example: students can customize how they receive email in their platform inboxes); allows integrated tools like Google documents, Ether pad, and media reporting; supports external integration like Facebook, Google, Canvas mobile apps for Android and IOS
Cons
No gamification features, but Canvas can integrate with third-party tools that allow gamification; Canvas grade book was made more complex after renovation
